In Mitsubishi Corporation Exploration (MCX), we maintain close ties with our parent company, Mitsubishi Corporation and are playing a very important role in propulsion, management and administration of overseas oil and gas exploration, development and production projects (hereinafter referred to as E&P projects) that Mitsubishi Corporation has interests in. In addition to developing and proposing plans for new assets acquisition projects, MCX is also contributing technical support in upstream sectors connected with Mitsubishi Corporation's LNG business.
The areas of MCX's operations are spread across the globe, with the main regions being the West Africa, US Gulf of Mexico, UK North Sea, Asia, and North Africa. Looking ahead, MCX expects to further expand its global presence.

E&P projects, one of Mitsubishi Corporation's core businesses, include: participating in the Kangean Block of East Java, Indonesia,; acquiring interests in the K2 Block of deep water, the US Gulf of Mexico; entering into capital tie-up with Indonesian major oil & gas company Medco Energi Internasional Tbk. and acquiring the assets Dunlin Cluster oil fields in UK North Sea. MCX plays a key role in all of these projects. In fiscal 2009, we will continuously focus on the new assets acquisition as well as strengthening the base of the existing projects by following Mitsubishi Corporation's new medium-term management plan "INNOVATION 2009" which will be concluded at the end of this fiscal year.

At MCX we have excellent personnel in a broad range of fields who support our E&P projects such as through technological evaluation and project management, and looking ahead, we plan to continue to employ personnel with skills that match the work.
